How to go to Nursing School FREE!
Want to go to nursing school but not sure how you can afford to go? If you are age 16-24 and live in the United States (or Peurto Rico) read on for a little-known way you may be able to attend nursing school for free!
The United States Government has a program open to at-risk youth ages 16-24 that helps to train participants in a career at no cost to them. The name of this program is Job Corps. Job Corps is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor. Young people who are in Job Corps typically live on-site at a Job Corps center and have all basic necessities supplied for them such as living quarters, food and schooling. This can be a great option for those who want to attend nursing school but find it is financially out of reach.
The Job Corps nursing program is very selective, and they do require that prospective candidates finish their high school diploma or GED prior to beginning training. Most programs also require hopeful nursing students to go through a CNA (Certified Nurses Assistant) training program first before they can apply to go to nursing school. Job Corps also provides the CNA training program, and that is typically stretched out to a time frame of a few months to complete. After successful completion of the CNA training program, students can then take the necessary steps to apply for the nursing program.
Listed below are the Job Corps locations that offer an option for students to attend nursing school. You do not have to be a resident of the facilities’ particular state to be considered for their nursing program. You can contact each individual facility for more program information:
